We're inside 21 hours now before we get our girl!! We'll catch a flight to our daughter's province in the morning and have some time to settle into the hotel, and then...(drum roll please)...Megan will be brought to our hotel around 4 or 4:30 tomorrow afternoon!!!
In the meantime, we have been very busy touring Beijing. It's been pretty exhausting but incredibly interesting. We toured all day Saturday and Sunday and have seen The Forbidden City, The Summer Palace, Tian'anman Square and The Great Wall. We've observed jade being carved, silk being manufactured(starting with the cocoon), and pearls being extracted. We went to an international Christian church service where the Gospel was proclaimed but only foreigners were allowed to attend. Now we're back at the hotel getting packed to fly out tomorrow. Our luggage will be picked up tonight.
The kids are still doing great. J woke up at around 3:30am, but she's been holding her own. She's been a bit overwhelmed at the amount of attention she's been getting. I guess a little light-haired, blue-eyed girl is somewhat of a novelty here, and complete strangers have picked her up and doted on her, followed her around, or just grabbed her to take a picture with her. It makes her very nervous and uncomfortable, but a sweet mom in our group pointed out to her that this experience will help her to better understand how Megan may feel when she gets to America.
B started the trip throwing up the airport. Morning #2 he threw up twice! He seems fine now and is having a great time. Dh diagnosed him with a nervous stomach from the travel and changes.
We are all really having a wonderful time but are just so excited about meeting our baby girl tomorrow!! We feel your prayers and are so grateful for them!!

Time is really moving along quickly, isn't it? From the picture, it appears the church service you attended was contemporary. I am curious as to why only foreigners were allowed to attend.
We must all step up our prayers for the children. Brandon, settle down, sweetheart -no more throwing up allowed. As one of her grandmothers, it makes ME nervous to think of complete strangers grabbing and picking Jordan up, or any of them for that matter. Kevin, I am sure, and all of them must be absorbing so much and I hope they will all be able to retain many wonderful memories of the trip.
Here, it is beginning to rain and thunder on this Mother's Day.
Stay safe -- I can hardly wait to see a new picture of Megan!
Love, Grandma
Happy Mother's Day Holly!!
I woke up this morning and one of the first things I thought of was the fact that you will be meeting Megan so close to Mother's Day. It will be Mother's Day here until 1pm China time Monday and that's the Day you're meeting her and "love is taking her in!!" God's timing is so awesome!
I cried as soon as I saw the pic of you guys on the Great Wall - Wow - what a memory maker! I'm praying especially for Megan today that she will bond quickly and feel safe and peaceful and even be excited to meet her new parents and brothers and sister! We'll continue to pray for safety and good health and protection - enjoy every minute and thanks for letting us peek in on your journey! What a blessing to us!!
love and hugs to you all in Him,
Cindi (for all 6 Garretts)
